Thread: Resident Evil Deck Building Game:: Rules:: Impossible Mercenary mode?

I have played mercenary mode a couple of times now, both as team and solo.
Both times i have not been close to any successfull exploring.
After the 15 turns, my deck is powered up and ready to Explorer but the game ends there.
Is it possible to get any strings going in 15 turns?
It seems impossible but maybe i'm doing something wrong?

Does the phrase "defeat it immediately" mean that the Automatic Shotgun's Effect preempts the Defeated Infected's Effect?

Hmm.. seem to have lost a post i made requesting clarification.

So here goes again - but i am adding a bit more :-)

1) Does the text on WEAPONS resolve just for playing the weapon on your turn or do you have to have the required ammo for that weapon first BEFORE using the text on the card?
So for example the text on the rifle states you pick a player to discard a card from their hand. Does this happen only if you have ammo for the rifle or it can be used just for having the rifle in hand (and play)?

2) Since the various actions can be performed in any order, are the two examples correct for one turn (assuming all relevant cards in play):

a) Play a hand with two weapons. Have only enough ammo for one. Explore and use the weapon with ammo. Then play an action card (example: Item management) and upgrade one of the 0 cost ammo to the 30 cost ammo.

b) Play a hand with a grenade and weapon with ammo. Explore and use weapon and grenade to defeat an infected. Trash grenade. Do a buy phase and buy back grenade.

3) Does cards like Police Station and A Gift? force a reshuffle of the discard pile if you run out of cards in your inventory trying to fulfill the text requirements (draw and discard until weapon found and +2 cards respectively)?

4) Spec Ops rifle special is to force all players who have not explored that turn to discard a card from hand. What exactly is a "turn"? Does this special apply to all players until my turn come around again? so if they don't explore they lose a card)

I played the Partner Mode first time this weekend, and i have some thoughts about that...

We played that way hoping to accelerate the game, even notice that we don't have the Alliance expansion yet, but only the basic set.

However, i felt that it accelerate the game to much, causing the characters to cause every turn a minimum amount of 15 damage (partner attached with handgun and a knife), becoming the act of reveal a infect a boring action that no more causes the panic of the original game play mode.

In addition, some combinations become horibly appelative. A player who had played with Wesker + Sheva acquired very early too rifles and activate all the abilities, causing he to explore two times every turn with a damage of 100 or more. When he reach this situation, the game was considered over, even without the Uroboros death. xD

Even in my game I was in a really unfair situation, with a gatling guna in the early game. The big question is: may i attach the Gatling on my partner, causing me to potentialy use this every turn???

From now on I will ask what kind of game I look for: a slow but dynamic game, or a game repetitive and without any tension...

What do you think about it? Mainly you that have played another expansions...

1. when the time bonus is discovered in the mansion, do you have to take it?
The effect says when discovered but the rulebook doesn't specifically say ( I know the rulebook isnt great). So I'm leaning toward yes.

2. can someone please newbie explain multiple explores to me? I know there are two ways to handle them but I want to make sure I understand both.

Here's a question.

If ammo counts for both ammo and gold, and it stays for the entire turn, and naturally you can't "hold back" cards between your turns...

Is there any reason NOT to immediately play any and all ammo cards at the moment your turn begins? If not, why not?

Each turn,Can we play all step as we wish?
ex:Action--->Use ammunition-->buy weapon-->exploe--->Action again(extra action)

if no we have to respectively play?

When I exploe mansion with Automatic Shotgun+Stun Rod

If revealed card is...

1.Wasp (hp15 when reveled,attack character-20hp)
----->I use Automatic Shotgun Effect.
I still -20or not?In other word,My question is"defeated it immediately" mean what?

and I continue next explore with a-shotgun effect

2.Zombie A
------>I kill them

and next with +1 from stun rod

3.Tyrant-T002
------>I cant defeat it.A last attack is fail.


My exploe result is Wasp and Zombie A right?

My friend told me if I use extra explore,I must kill all revealed card.If not I am bitten by all revealed card.

My question is underline text.

If I explore with Character Health=20
Weapon is Shotgun+Rocket Launcher
=I have 115dmg+2explores

First Explore is Grave Zombie.
I kill it and choose to continuous explore.

Second Explore is Laser Trap.
I die.(-20max hp and skip next round)


Question:I can kill Grave Zombie or not?
Question II:When Character die,I have to put all card to inventory and shuffle or not?(my friend told me this)
Question III:When I die,I recieve all damage normally right?

Hi, Iam stuck again on the set up process. It says you can have 18 different piles in the resource area, I get that and there are certain cards you have to use and different scenarios use other cards.

My question is how many copies of each resource card do you use?

- I end my turn and draws (the last) 5 cards of my inventory.
(inventory is empty)
- NEXT player's turn, he plays Master of Unlocking.

QUESTION: Do i take my discard pile and shuffle it? Pulling it into my inventory space? Or does Master if Unlocking's effect does not affect me...

P.S.
Situation got hot, but me being the nice guy, i folded my arms and shuffled my discard pile, then revealed the top card of my inventory. I lost my Burst-Fire Pistol. On top of that, two cards in my hand immediately became useless: Reload and Flamethrower.

HUNTING BOW
(1)If there are no Actions in your Play Area, this Weapon gets +10 Damage during this turn.
(2)While this Weapon is in your Play Area , you cannot play Actions.

Question: I understand the 1st effect, but say i DID play an action card during my turn. Can i play my Hunting Bow?... or is it locked in my hand because of Hunting Bow's 2nd effect.

I have a question regarding skills that have "At the beginning of your turn" as a clause.

If my skill is not activated "at the beginning" of my turn, can I transfer XP from my character to that skill and have it activate in time for me to get the benefits of the skill?

Or must the skill have all the XP it requires before the start of my turn in order for it to activate?

The confusion stems from the rule "You can transfer XP from your character to your skills at any point in your turn in which you are not exploring."

This is an important clarification because of cards like Backstab in which opponents might steal XP off your skill in order to deactivate it before your turn rolls around.

I have 80/80 health, when i explore appear the infected HUNTER (REDBG Nightmare)(When this infected is revealed the player with most decorations lowers their character maxium health by 20)

Question:

1. When that player dies, starts with 40/40 or 60/60?

If I use Mind Control to play another player's Shattered Memories, do I trash the Shattered Memories, as stated on its text, or discard it, as Mind Control's text says?

Can you reload a gun if taking a second explore as a separate one provided you have enough leftover ammo? Can I keep reloading a shotgun and exploring until I run out of ammo? (By reload I am not talking about the card reload.)
